Engraving

In the past while of scripting it has come upon me to finally get around to dealing with such things like XyText that a few in the BDSM scene will see on their collar or some such.

Most often place I've seen it is on collars, Dari Haus, Real Restraint, ToKon.. they all have "labels" or "titles" that allow the user to write some word(s) to describe their sub.

This is done by having individual prims laid across the area you desire for text and then applying a texture of a letter that you want; more sophisticated ones will seek to save memory by making one texture with all letters and just changing where it's aligned.

Anywho: when tasked with making a function like that I looked around at the open source functions available. Namely XyText (and its deviations) on the Wiki and Dari Haus' collars. Much to my displeasure these did not have the functionality I desired nor were they efficient.

Things like XyText are designed more for in world objects you rez so it does its best to be prim savvy, some of it's deviations work to display multiple letters on a single prim etc and frankly I didn't need the extra process for that because as I'm making an attachment prim count doesn't matter as much.

Dari's work wasn't much better, s/he'd used some weird method I had issues wrapping my head around to do it and; again, it didn't offer what I wanted and would take twice as much work to modify it to me needs then just writing from scratch.

So for the past while I've been writing Engraving V 1.0 which can write text on prims, one letter per prim (no limit to how many prims it can do so far), read whats written on the prims (this prevents you from losing data upon a script reset, the script will just read whats written on the prims and reload it into the menus like my Recolour V 3.1a does), allows multiple text colours and allows for alignment (left, center, right) of text.

This function, split into two groups of 8 prims (configurable separately), will be found on my new (early alpha stages of development) Anthemion Collar designed to correspond with the Anthemion Chastity Belt/Bra set as well as the Simplicity cuffs (which I've wanted to update for a while).

Passing Thoughts

Was sifting through my text files and came across a save of a post I'd made on Second Lifes forums, the thread was discussing the separation of real life and second life and how each of us handles it. Not to toot my own horn per say but I still feel that what I posted there was quite profound (something that doesn't happen to me as often as I may like to think) and felt that I could share it here.

Some people don't want to. I think, like in any relationship, there are degrees to separation. My friends in SL ask how my day was, we talk about this cold I'm pondering under and how my family annoys me. It's the kind of stuff my 1st life friends talk to me about to. I don't think there's anything different between Second Life and First Life when you consider the degrees. When you meet a stranger in RL do you just spill out your sexual preferences and blather on about how you want to sleep with them or even more innocent topics of how your life is going? There is always that initial barrier, that waiting room period where you tentativly talk to other people, and there's always friends who you talk to and play games with, and there's always someone special whom you hold dear to your heart.

The point is, there is no RL and SL, there is life. And it mixes and moves the same for all of us no matter how hard we try to seperate it. You can act all isolated and act like there is no world outside of SL when you're there and that may work for you, but rest assured what's going on in life is still affecting your actions and reactions in SL no matter how seperate you try to keep them. You may not talk to your buddy about the stress of work, but the stress of work will talk to your buddy.

Specifically the last sentence has stuck with me and I've tried to keep it in mind when dealing with people on a whole. Perhaps something you, the reader, should keep in mind too on your journeys through any and all lives you may lead.

Programmer Assupmtions

As a programmer myself I can see the benefit of giving people these little features that pop up and try to help, however I'd like to think that I'm smart enough to take a hint. If someone closes my window, I'll assume they didn't want. It seems logical enough to me, as it is logical to many I'm sure. Why is it that programmers then assume that because you lacked a response or because you closed their window that you must want it open again and in your way?

It certainly irks me when programmers make such assumptions, more specifically in this case (the case that caused me to feel the urge to bitch) a word processor felt the need to "bullet" a single line of text I was writing every. single. time. no matter how many times I undid it simply because I wanted to start the line with an Astrix (*). Now tell me, is that such a horrible thing for me to want to do? Why aren't I allowed to do that? The instant I try and hit enter to start a whole new line not related to a list in anyway the program assumes I wanted bullets and converts my * into a bullet dot and ties to make my next line part of the bullets.

If I wanted bullets: I'd bloody turn them on myself. Why do you have to be so "helpful" and do it for me? Sure, shortcuts okay so I can turn it off right? Sure. You just have to turn off spellchecker along with it. Huh? Why?

Seems the programmers, along with assuming any appearance of * means "THEY WANT BULLETS NOOOOOWW!!" felt that the change of * to bullets fell into the category of spellchecker and in order to stop their auto correcting bullshit I have to turn off their non-auto red squiggly line (standard) spellchecker.

Gah! Programmers annoy me, and I'm one of them. (Though hopefully I don't annoy you)

New Demos

With adding the Pony Bridle to the Demo Dispenser (found at the Stonehaven location) I altered how they function somewhat.

They should now be more secure and responsive, less lag (always good) and still easy to use.

Click on the portrait of the demo you wish to try, wear it and enjoy messing with any and all settings in an unlimited time demo. The demo will cease to function when you move more then 20 meters away from the Dispenser, and reactivate when you move back in range. This allows you to enjoy all the features without worry of a time limit but prevents getting a free deal :p

Due to the fact that this is a new methodology please report to me any bugs with it.

Bigger and Better

The shop on Stonehaven Islands has moved, but only slightly. Down the hall and to the left we are now located in one of the bigger plots which allows me to release my demos again for you to enjoy along with the secondary vendor to sell Poses for my Simplicity Cuffs.

This will include demos of the Pressure Tank, Slave Harness, and Pony Bridle... for now ;)

Catching Up...

Well... here we are again. As of late I've had myself a fight with a cold so have not been feeling to up to snuf or really enthused about getting around to programming anything substantial. After some time and a surprise visit from my father my cold is on it's way out and I'm back at it.

With that comes news of a major project I've started; it's been a concept for a long time now collaborated with my friend Dirk, owner of Stonehaven Island, as a special feature for his sim. With that I announce C.A.G.E. my massive project.

Why is it massive? Because it's not a cage, it's a game! Full with in world and and off world server to store tons of data like scores, awards, achievements, ranks etc; a HUD to track room by room games between friends or strangers and a unique gun that follows the rules of the game.

Now then. Details details, the ever important information that may just get someone excited.
  • The game will allow multiple "rooms"
  • Rooms can be password locked or public access
  • Guns will only fire on people in the same room as you (no shooting people in another room or strangers not playing the game
  • Room "Wardens" can change multiple settings of a room including maximum players, password and score limit; they can also eject people
  • Wardens are shown as green names in the room display on HUDs
  • Designated "Safe Zones" prevent all guns in all rooms to cease function
  • Shooting someone cages them (and deactivates their gun in case they escape the cage those poor sports!) for 1 minute and grants a point to you
  • You will be able to join, leave and create rooms straight from the HUD; no need to go to the central Server to do so
  • Guns can be gotten from the HUD or Server, HUD is gotten from the Server
  • Web enabled Update
  • Sever based Admins (shown as red in HUDs room display) can configure multiple Server settings including things like a ban list, safe zones, max number of rooms; as well as enter as change room passwords and eject people from rooms (including Wardens)
  • Multiple sort orders for room display, the HUD is able to sort the display by Score or Alphabetical in both ascending (highest to lowest score, a to z) and descending (lowest to highest score, z to a)
  • Special HUD for those using the GreenLife Emerald Viewer taking advantage of the llTextBox() function (not yet supported by SLV cause LL is lazy, once it's supported just use the emerald HUD instead of the SLV HUD)
  • Easy and simple HUD layout, navigation through the pages of players in a room are done by HUD buttons not llDialog buttons (5 people per page, unlimited pages)
  • Unique Room IDs so that two rooms can be named the same thing while the server, HUD and gun can tell the difference
  • Use the HUD to search through open Rooms, no dialog or chatting (unless it's password locked) just surf through the list like you do players (Next/Previous buttons on the HUD) and select the one you want to join
That's about all I have so far, I'll update when once I have more and of course down the line as beta comes along for open testing.

As always not all listed features are guaranteed to be in game, some may get dropped or altered as the programming moves on. If you wish to beta test with me please drop me an IM in world in a little bit (once I hopefully have something to test) and we'll see what we can set up.

Have fun out there.

Peevish

Here's what I don't get. As a content creator I make things and more specifically as a BDSM content creator I make things restrictive. With the help of RLV of course.

The thing is, for each new feature Marine adds to RLV or I add to my products (and others to their products of course) there seems to be someone else making a counter product.

Raise your hand if you have an item that listens to channel 1. It'd take me all day to count those that are honest and admitted to it. Why so many? What is the point in us making something like a gag and Marine making RLV if we're (I'm guilty of it to in the past I admit) just going to cheat around it? Why buy a product, wear it, let someone (or do it yourself) lock it to block us from chatting or whatever and then just bypass it with something?

Block local, people go to IMs, block IMs and they use notecards, block cards.. then I've seen one girl use group notices to talk. Come on! Don't wear a gag if you're that desperate to talk still, don't wear a gag if you have to use another item to allow IMs to all your friends, or allow teleporting or whatever just because you don't want to be restricted.

Why use RLV or play in BDSM sims to begin with then? It's obvious that you're interested more in cheating out and being free then you are being kidnapped and captured so don't start to begin with and stay free.

Now don't confuse this with something like I don't care for safety. Safety is a big concern of mine and I put Safewords in my products (or equivalent functions) for just such a case, including (if blocked) IMs always being open to the person who locked. But safety isn't IMing all your friends while gagged or teleporting out of a cage cause you're bored or removing a locked item because you're tired of it. Safety is getting free when someone has been irresponsible with your stuff and ran away etc.

Basically, if you don't want to be restricted, don't buy/wear/use items that can restrict you. Sit there and chat with all your friends instead of wasting my time and the time of all us creators by making it look like there's a market for people interested in something like a gag just so that you can cheat out of its restrictions.

I'm sure I'm not the only one a bit ticked off at others making light of our work. Many of us put a lot of effort into making SL enjoyable for the BDSM crowd and frankly it's a kick in the teeth that we try so hard just so that someone can cheat and act as if our stuff is just jewelry instead of bondage equipment.

Baffled

Two posts in one night, wee.

I was looking at some scripts (written by others) after my own crusade into typos and I'm just dumbfounded by what people do. Now, I know I'm a talented scripter I've had many people tell me that but that doesn't change how it amazes me that people are doing things with 150+ lines in a stand alone script that I'm doing with a 30 line function.

I mean really, is that the standard or did I just find a really poor quality script that it has to take a stand alone script to change some variables and lists and do some rlv?

I guess it could come down to style or something but I've seen a few products out there that just have so many scripts in them and it makes me wonder why they're all needed. I'm all for being modular I've got some of that myself; have myself a plug and go RLV script etc but that's a bunch of functions that sort and store large amounts of rlv commands along with auto correcting spelling mistakes and swapping y/rem/n/add where needed (allows me to say @detach=n, add it to the list, then say @detach=y and remove the n from the list) so it isn't something simple that you can just put in a generic control script.

*shurgs* I don't know. To each their own I guess.

Blah

Scripting sure can piss me off at times, bewilder me too. Here I am trying to work on an inter prim communication that I know damn well should work and it wasn't!! Grr.

In trying to update my Simplicity Cuffs to match my Chastity Belt I changed the prim work of them, starting from scratch and then just plop the scripts in and go right? Wrong!

The two elbow cuffs just refused to talk, they'd listen and respond to commands but they wouldn't talk which meant that the main script couldn't get their keys in order to properly chain when doing poses. What was more confusing and annoying was that the wrists cuffs were talking fine and the scripts were a direct copy/paste to the elbows!! Why then weren't they working?!

So I sat here and tested and ranted and stumped every scritpter out there with this weird problem. The channel is within limit, the listen is open, nothing is being said before the channel is made, the channel is the same on all four cuffs, the commands are all right, the wording is perfect, I reset the scripts 50 times, copied and pasted again, I recompiled, I rerezzed, I logged in and out, danced on my head and nothing worked!

Time and time again they'd listen to commands, responding by trying to chain together but not having the proper keys the chain just hung there. The wrists worked they chained as they should on all the poses they should and the elbows sat there refusing to take part in the party. Even my listener that I set up wasn't hearing them talk.

Of course I realize now if I'd had my head on straight when I made the listener in frustration that I heard them talk before I added the name filter on it (to block chatter on the channel to just my cuffs) but 20/20 hindsight.

So anyway, I was stumped every scripter I could talk to was stumped. And then I saw it. The damn name was wrong! Gah, how can I be so stupid? There was an extra t in the "Simplicity" on both the elbow cuffs that I missed. I remove it, all works. I bang head against wall; stop scripting for the night.

The power and frustration of a little typo. *sighs*

Ops...

Seems there was a bit of a slip up with permissions on the Anthemion Pony Bridle that caught a few people.

Now it's nothing serious or that require updates or anything just contact me, Lylani Bellic, in world and we'll fix it. The *Feedback notecard found in the Bridle's inventory that is used to set spoken feedback messages is unintentionally set to NoMod; kinda makes it hard to change it to what you want like that. /me looks sheepish

Anyway, the stores have been update with the proper permissions so purchasing one here after should do alright, if you did buy one that has NoMod notecard just let me know and I'll send you one with proper permissions.

Do a little dance...

Just letting you peoples know I'm still around, settled into my new house and populating it with all sorts of little toys and misc boxes of doom.

Work continues on my projects (small delays here and there programing stuff for my house and being locked up mmm) and one that I'm sure a few people have been waiting a long time for is getting close.

The Chastity Belt that I've been so cruelly teasing people with is actually not vaporware. I know, it's shocking maybe I should have advised a seat before springing the news. Anyway, it's down to its last few functions and many many tests after only a month (today being October 1st and V2.0 of the belt was started on September 1st) of work. I'm pretty pleased with it so far, its far smoother and less laggy then its previous version and the accompanied Chastity Bra has had a total prim rework along with a few features of its own.

With it will be a couple features that may not work right away:

1) Vibrators. I need to get in touch with Xcite again and get their partnership scripts again in order to get this operational. If this doesn't happen before I feel the belt should be released it will be released in an update asap.

2) Cuffs. A new plugin feature (not found in V 1.0 of the scripts) that requires me to update my Simplicity Cuffs and write a plugin for RR. This function wont need any new cuffs and I will release an API so that you can write a plugin for your own cuffs if you can/want to. It will use animations stored in the belt for unique poses and the plugin to the cuffs is there to lock/take keys so that your cuffs are "locked to the belt". This may be a little bit in coming as I have yet to look over the API Marine released for her cuffs and I have some plans to update my Simplicity Cuffs with more then just support for the belt.

Hopefully it doesn't take to much longer to code, I predict at least a couple more weeks though to finish and do a lot of testing.

New Digs

So I got myself my own little plot of land, technically to share with my friends who are gona help with the rent. Now before people get confused this is not a new location for my store that's still in the works, this is a private home for my friends and I as well as a place to host my store servers.

This means that there should be no interruptions in store service and that the updater server is back online (though still no updates ready yet, I had one done but then a few bugs moved in so it's not as done as done may be :p).

Still settling in, though work still continues on my own projects again. Maybe I'll have a house warming party sometime, who knows.

Polished Shit

Polish a turd it's still a turd!

Through the grace of true friends I have procured a temporary home for my servers while I adapt to the lose of my main store. Talks are already in the works of getting my own land so watch out we may just be back doing evil near you all to soon.

Unfortunately, while the vendors can remain online the secondary system I was using to avoid cluttering the main vendors with the (currently) 9 poses for the Simplicity Cuffs has no room. The shops I have just don't allot enough prims so it will sadly remain offline and in the in term I will (once I have time, gimme some at least :p) replace the cuffs in the main vendor with ones that come full of animations until such time as I can let the customer pick and choose again.

Furthermore the update server will be offline for the duration but whoopy, there's no updates anyway so no lose.

It's still shit, I hate imposing on people, but it's a least a bit more shiny.

Now that's what you call a shit storm...

Well in a suspected but still shocking turn of events today I've lost not only my main showroom and my house but also a friend.

He has seen fit to evict me over the grounds that I was no longer willing to complete the project I started not even two weeks ago (See the post on Sept 12) though he claims 3+ weeks. Go figure. Anyway. I decided not to finish the project based on the merit that there were unstated conditions to the project that he sprung on me a couple days ago.

In a truly ironic twist he claims that I broke his trust by turning him down after seeing a document he wanted me to sign (somehow under the impression that typing my name over the internet was legally binding...). The ironic part is that this document was to make sure that I didn't "run wild" (as he put it) with the scripts after I sold them to him. Can anyone see the problem here? The trust was lost the instant he felt there was a need for such a document, if he has to have some "legal" document to make sure I don't run wild it means he doesn't trust me to not run wild otherwise.

So no, I didn't break your trust by turning you down, there was no trust by that point because you didn't trust me to not run wild. If you don't trust me, without a legal document to keep me in line, why should I trust that you won't just turn around and screw me using the scripts I gave you?

Anyway, it's truly sad that he felt the need to take this so far. A simple "Okay we'll find someone else to script" would have been sufficiant but he wanted to make his point and felt it pertinent to start the conversation with "you're being evicted" (paraphrase).

So anyway, drama aside this means that the stores may be offline for a little bit as I find a new home for my server. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and I'd give you the name of the person you could go thank but that seems more like stooping to his level of pettiness.

Hang with me people, life changed it's not over.

Profanity

I've wondered for a long time just what profanity is. We all know those lovely four letter words that will get you some sour looks if you utter them in public but really, why is that? Why does a word (some that has no negative meaning) suddenly become so negative?

Is it because its intent was that of a negative remark?

Or because its reception is that of a negative remark?

What happens when the intent was harmless but the reception is negative is it still considered profanity? Still rude to use a word that, while you mean no offense, offense is taken anyway? If so what stops us from taking offense at anything and using it to get people in trouble?

Turn of Events..

So following my rant on automatic spammers.. er updaters.. I went to check out what hippoTech had as a friend was using it and well, I've always liked hippo for their good products.

Lo and behold though they advertise the two methods of updating as OnRez and Timed, just what I don't want. I didn't want to spend 750L$ on a product that would go and spam my users when I hated it myself. I'd have to buckle down and just deal with the small updater I'd set up and be done with it. But fortuitously enough my friend answered my questions and voila, hippo's scripts are full perm so that advanced users can integerate them better into their products. Two minutes after looking at them I have modified them to work only when called.

So, what does this mean? It means that upcoming and recent items will have the use of hippoTechs web-enabled updater but won't spam you, only checking for updates when you ask it too.

Simplicity Cuffs, Pony Bridle and Chastity Belt (last two not out yet see next bit of post for time frame) will be the first to receive this new update service which will take a load off my back when it comes to updating my stuff.

Onto the next bit. My own projects have been delayed. For how long is hard to say; a month at the most. I've accepted my first commission job from a friend and thus my time this next while will be spent scripting for him. Now this is not to say my own projects won't see progress, I'll hardly be working on my new project all the time, but things won't be released or updated just yet.

More organized so I can rant better...

On a serious note (best to start here so that when I slip we can just say I'm into my rant) I've added categories to my blog via the Labels function so that people can find posts related to products or general business.

Posts can of course be found in multiple categories like Business, Rants (like this one) because they contain either a rant about business or both a rant and some talk about business. I know it's nothing special or complex but it may help you sift out what kind of thing you want to see.

Now onto my less serious note. Someone hide the knives before I hunt down someone and stab them! Rawr! Kidding, mostly...

I'm getting kind of annoyed at people in game yet again. This time on the topic of updaters. Those things that give us new versions of our favorite products... or spam us to living hell because they're mechanically dumb and literal machines put to the task by an equality inept creator.

Updaters come in a few flavours... mm lemon... no not that kind of flavour but things like web-enabled and script PIN. Some give you a whole new product, some give you an item to update your product, some do it on their own some want you to take part.

The type that ticks me off, is the ones that figure.. because you don't have the latest version.. that you mustn't have gotten the message yet and proceed to spam you again and again and again and again and did I mention again.. with the news and method of updating.

Yo, morons. WHAT IF I DON'T WANT TO UPDATE YOUR FUCKING PRODUCT? Did the thought ever cross your mind that if I wanted an update I'd go out and get it? With your web-enabled product can't you just tell me in a single line "Oh we have an update click (here in menu) or come to (here in world) to update!"? Why do you have to cram a new copy of the same updater I've been rejecting every time you ping your server? Bugger off and let me update when I can/want to.

Even Windows, the bane of all human existence, can turn off auto-updates. That should tell you just how fucking annoying it is to be spammed every single time I dare log into SL with your product updater simply because you're to addle brained to realize that updating my product should be my choice and if I decline I'd like to not have people insist anyway.

Linden Labs at it again...

Linden Labs strikes again with their most recent blunder into community relations. Their proposed change to the Xstreet SL forums, slated to occur only days away on the 9th (hows that for a nice SHORT.. erm.. period of time in which to gather your customers opinions...), will see the death of any conversation not directly related to SecondLife. They support this change by outright admitting that the forum community doesn't fucking matter one danm bit:

Pink Linden -
I wouldn't call the number of merchants who post in this forum the majority by any stretch of the imagination. For example, not a single one of the top 10 merchants who account for a significant percentage of XStreet Revenue are here, ever. With all due respect, we manage the marketplace and the forums for the majority...that is the fairest way. We do try to respect the minority, but it's rarely possible to accomplish this for 100% of a dynamic, active, passionately engaged customer base.
Way to stick it to the community LL. You just went and showed us all in one fell swoop that, to your eyes, we don't matter unless we make you a shit load of money. Guess we know now that to LL: unless it's bundled with packing peanuts made up of crumbled 20$s it just doesn't matter what the contents is.

If you truly managed the forums for the majority you wouldn't fucking care about the top 10 people but I guess when you say majority you mean the majority of money makers... that's the fairest way.

Next I guess we'll get an announcement saying that rezzing will be taken out of the game because the top 10 "biggest money bags" who play the game only buy and sell land...

Guess it's a good thing I've never relied on your forums at all. Though I'll miss reading them now and then.

Tutorial: How to Reset your Objects

So it has come to my attention that some people have yet to learn how to reset an item. Seeing as resting has always been the main fallback for my products and that I end all my notecards with instructions to just reset stuff if something goes horribly wrong it seems apt of me to explain to those people how to reset your object should the need arise.

Now then. Step One is assuming you're wearing the object and it is not RLV Locked (@detach=n) or you are in SLV.

Lets begin:
Right click on your object and select Edit (red highlight)

Doing so will give you this menu, selecting the Content tab will show you whats hiding in this objects inventory though seeing this tab is not necessary, any tab will do so long as the build menu is open and the object you wish to reset is highlighted as shown.

Next step is to go to your menu bar at the top of your viewer and find the Tools menu and therein a lot of options. Fortunately we only want one button here and that is Reset Scripts in Selection (highlighted in red). With the object still selected click this button to start the reset process.

To make sure it's working look for this new window to pop up that will list the scripts (that you'd see in the Contents tab if you looked there) as it resets them. When the Done button highlights click it and exit build mode.

Your object should now be fully reset.

Note that not all objects lose their data from this, some read off of notecards or webservers and will re-install their data from there upon a reset. What this means is that some data you were trying to clear may not have actually cleared but more often then not this kind of reset will wipe an objects memory of who stole your keys or locked you and ran off and revert it to newly out of the box state.

Conceptualization

Big word ^_^

Well, it's what I do, conceptualize things that is, not just use big words though I tend to do that too when it fits. This time I've improved upon what many of us know as a timer.

Now of course it's still a timer and it really isn't that much improved. But if there's a common thing I've seen when setting a timer in a new toy its that each one works differently. Now I'm not expecting my release of this concept to revolutionize anything but it's a layout that allows people to include those things into their timer script with a fairly intuitive menu and concept.

By now I'm sure everyone knows of Timers favorite companion the AutoLock that evil little function that has you waiting (knowing or not knowing) that something is coming and you can't stop it.

It's a function found in my Slave Harness and Simplicity Cuffs along with the upcoming Pony Bridle. Now it's my nature to try and improve on my functions each time I write them and I was looking for a more convenient (and memory efficient) method of including an AutoLock into the Bridle.

And it dawned on me, as is the want of innovations, that why couldn't I just make it like a regular timer and if people add a delay it becomes an AutoLock? Thinking of it as a timer with a delay I tried to reason why I had done it as two separate functions in the past.

So anyway that's the first part of the concept. The second is brought on because of the limit of dialog buttons (12 per page) and my desire not to make more menus then I had to (a menu eats up a list which takes memory) but at the same time I was frustrated with only having 9 left after the control functions (Start / Clear / Back) which would give me an uneven distribution of values if I wanted to split them between positive and negative.

Now of course the Clear button is there for a reason, it resets the timer to 0; but I don't want people to have to do that just to take 10 minutes off of a timer so I wanted a couple minus values as options too. Well with the delay function in place taking up two more menu slots (Delay / Clear Delay) I had only 7 slots left to get a decent + and - group out of.

Well now here's where my OCD comes in, I didn't want to just have +10, 20, and 30 and then -10, 20 and 30. Can you imagine how annoying it'd be to set a 6 hour timer? Why not use bigger numbers? But then it's the same issue with lower length timers. My OCD wouldn't let me just use three spots for plus and minus.

So it used all six for plus and used slot number 7 still left over for a swap to minus. Making the menu look like this:

[+60 Min] [+3 Hr] [+12 Hr]
[+5 Min] [+10 Min] [+30 Min]
[Delay] [Clear Delay] [Minus]
[Start] [Clear] [Back]

What this shows is, to my mind, an efficient layout combined with enough function to satisfy long and short timers with long or short delays without the need to clear a timer just to remove a denotation of time as well as only using one list to generate the entire menu saving on memory using only two integers (beyond of course the integers storing the timer data itself) to determine if you're seeing delay or timer with positive or negative progression.

Keep in mind that this is a concept and not a finished script yet, I may even post it for you to use in your own products when it's done if it works well enough.

The cake is a lie... and a cliche...

Okay so I've been playing Portal: Prelude recently whats it to you. The game is pissing me off though but that's a whole 'nother post. This one is for Second Life and a basic reminder that I'm still alive... and I'll post when the song ends...

Okay..

With my cuffs out and on the market I've turned my attention to my other project, one that I'll use a lot and really strikes closely within my interests seeing as it is geared for ponyplay.

So here I guess is where I officially announce the Anthemion Pony Bridle.

Now some may say, "But Lylani you thief you just copied someone elses design" (something I actually was accused of once in the past, and I'll repeat what I told them). Yes, I did copy someone elses design, but it wasn't yours or anyone elses in Second Life. What people seem to forget is that a lot of the fetish gear in game is copied from real life. My bridle, as is other bridles in game like MD, are copied off of real life creations. So before anyone shouts or sends me a nasty IM/notecard about how my bridles design and features have things in common with other bridles I'm preemptively telling you to bugger off until you can come up with a bridle design that doesn't have ears and a mane and a bit gag that you can still call a bridle.

So anyway, lets get into what all my bridle can do (or in some cases is planed to do as it ain't finished yet).
  • Four gag types - Bitgag, Bitgag w/ Ball, Ballgag and Ringgag
  • Gag V 1.1 - The gag now has the option to block IM and Emote instead of forcing it
  • Earmuffs V1.1 - Those that know my earmuffs may be please to hear that they now have the option of what they block including Local, IM and Emote (new to RLV 1.19) and the user can set up any combination of the three to block.
  • Blindfold V1.1 - Black screen no fun? Well now the blindfold recolours and has five levels of opacity with the HUD and blindfold (on your face) changing to match. So others can see if you have a really thin blindfold on.
  • Multiple visual aspects including Pony Ears, Mane, Blinders (that use the blindfold HUD for visible blinders), nosehooks (ouch, but they seem to be a growing interest so there they are) and Pony Muzzle.
  • Hybrid Access - Same as found in my Simplicity Cuffs
  • Feedback Notecard - Every feedback message (messages that are spoken upon an action, like locking or applying the gag etc) is customizable via the owner through a notecard. Even the garble message is. The "Lylani mumbles:" that precedes chat while gagged can be set here too.
  • Timers - standard stuff
  • Reins - I call them that, even though it's a leash, just because :p
  • Various plugins I haven't decided on yet
So basically it's an upgraded version of my Slave Harness but with the hybrid access instead of owner and with optional use of ponyplay geared functions.

Anthemion Updater

The updater found in my Main Showroom is finally active though doesn't have a job yet.

None of my current products need updates so nothing is stored therein; nor for that matter are they connected to it with it's totally rewritten functionality. It will however function for upcoming products and it's really simple to use.

Step 1) TP into the Showroom
Step 2) Wait

That's it, heh. The updater keeps up with who's in the showroom and talks with your products automatically when you enter, if an update is needed it will send you one. Don't worry though, it may be actively scanning but it won't spam you with "Here's your new product" because it keeps track of who's new and who's been in the store for a while so it won't talk to you again till you leave and come back some other time.

I'll let ya know when and for what products you should head to the showroom to update.

Dynamic Nightmares

Well. In order to please the customer more and make a few new poses for my cuffs (bringing the total up to nine) I made "Pony Hands". You know the pose, it's not over breast but it's wrists drawn up and chained to the elbows. I thought my system was ready for it, I was wrong.

It catastrophically crashed my scripts as the left side fought for control and the right side sat on it's proverbial behind ignoring me.

The issue stood thus: both the Left Wrist and Left Elbow cuffs were designed as the Sources, that is to say that the particle chain emitted from them and targeted the right side. Because of this when I tried to run Pony Hands and chain Left Wrist to Left Elbow it crashed (don't ask me why it just did) the Left Elbow cuff. The Right Elbow and Wrist cuffs did nothing because they had only been programed as targets, containing little more then scripts to get their UUID and having no knowledge of the commands needed to create particle chain.

Basically, I had to re-write the entire chain system so that all cuffs are Sources and Targets. What does this mean? It means LWrist to LElbow is now possible, as is RWrist to RElbow; it also mean you can do RElbow to LElbow if the direction of the chain matters to you.

Previously both LW>RW and RW>LW would draw a chain from LW to RW, now the second code will draw a chain from RW to LW. This is of course purely for visual continuity, we don't really need the chain between elbows going left to right and the wrist chain going right to left, it just looks odd.

To summarize:
  • The code found in the anims names now is strictly Source>Target
  • Any cuff may be Source and any cuff may be Target
  • You may still only have one Source but unlimited Targets (eg. You can't make RE the Source twice it will only take the last one. However you can make RE the Target for two chains)
And that's about it. I've averted issues with this one, goodness knows someone would have made themselves a nice anim that tried to use a more dynamic chain system then my cuffs previously supported and ended up crashing the scripts. Now they won't have that issue, all tests are (so far) all working as intended.

The only down side, this unexpected (major) issue ate up the day I'd intended to use to finish the Lockpick system.

Last minute..

Seems of all the things I planned out for my cuffs I forgot one. LockGuard v2 compatibility! Well so I started adding in support for it when I came across an issue; how do I tell the cuffs what LG to call for?

Keep in mine the base design behind me cuffs, no pose is set, and they'll be a plugin that allows customers to make their own poses. How does the cuffs know which poses to use LG with?

I use a code of my own stored as part of the anim names to make chains from cuff to cuff but it's not designed to work with LG; seeing as I forgot about that at the time.

So I'm left with a choice:

a) Keep the system as is and forgo LG support
b) Totally replace my chain system and code support to work with LG which delays the cuffs release
c) do B but as an update instead of before release

Personally I'm leaning towards B, I know I know; delays suck! But A doesn't seem like a good choice and C has issues. If I do C then I'm stuck with people who have anims that don't contain the new code. What if I need a pose to attach to the ankles or a belt? There's no currently supported code for such actions and it may just be easier to redo the system now instead of having to update everyones anims.

Or I could stick basic support in, not any calls but anchor points at least so other products can chain to the cuffs but they won't attach to others. That shouldn't take to long and is better then nothing (A) but isn't the hassle of re-writing an entire system.

*shakes her head* I don't know. It needs more thought.

So close you can lick it...

The Simplicity Cuffs are getting realllly close. The HUD is mostly done and a lot of the bugs have been evicted and moved into a hotel for later use; some were given a home under the "Unintended Feature" act.

There's some fine tuning to do with the HUD commands so that they stack in the right order and the RLV protocol. Where most HUDs will send the @detach=n command when in use (leaving it free to detach when just sitting there) mine will be different. Because of how you can turn it off from the cuffs themselves that will be the trigger to unlock the HUD which will be locked at all times otherwise. This allows for a bit less lag if you can believe it, with the foreknowledge that the HUD is locked in place we don't have to make it "ping" as often to let the cuffs know it's still there, because we just know it is thanks to the lock.

Still no set release date as goodness knows when a bug will move back in but I can estimate around a week or so till they're ready.

Here's hoping!

An Update on Products

AU-HUD:

Unfortunately this task is not moving forward so well, data storage is a massive issue and now comes the fact that it can't fulfill specific HUD commands. It isn't programmed to track things like Mouselook and there's no way to dynamically tell it to without presetting a command for such which while I could would mean others are using my defined parameters which may or may not be what they need.

I'm not giving up on it, it just wont be coming as soon as I'd hoped.

Simplicity Cuffs:

They are moving along, with the failure of the AU-HUD and the unique features these cuffs now require from a HUD I'm creating a new one for the cuffs themselves. Now of course this means another HUD slot gets eaten I know and I'm sorry. But not all is lost at least. Taking some data I gathered for use in the AU-HUD this Cuff HUD will be wearable on any HUD slot and still function normally.

It will also be using a dynamic creation filter, what this means is that when the HUD is created it will attach to any slot you define and not just whatever slot is set by default. This should hopefully alleviate some of the annoyance that HUDs bring.

HUD use on the cuffs is also optional. There will be a toggle in the options accessible to the wearer only and only available when the cuffs are unlocked that will deactivate the HUD. The options will still appear in the menus (their controls explained later in this post) but the HUD won't respond and won't be persistent (the cuffs won't care if you take the HUD off). When active all pending HUD commands are sent and the cuffs will want the HUD on at all times.

"Pose Settings" are a different approach to RLV and HUD control. Unlike other cuffs you may see in the market the Simplicity Cuffs don't have all inclusive restrictions. For starters the RLV restrictions are kept to a "realistic" limit. That is to say that the cuffs won't be able to block speech or flight or anything of that sort. They can block rez/edit, show inv and fartouch; logical things that you'd be unable to do when cuffed. Besides RLV there's three (3) HUD controls, Block, Idle Block and Mouselook.

These six (6) options don't function like you'll see in other cuffs. The settings are inclusive with each individual pose. Long and short, if you have three poses in your cuffs "Wrists Front", "Wrists Back", and "BoxTie" you can set the cuffs to automatically apply certain restrictions and settings for each pose. Set "Wrists Front" to block FarTouch, "Wrists Back" to block ShowInv and Block, and "BoxTie" to Idle Block. This would mean then that if you lock the cuffs into Wrists Front that FarTouch will be restricted, shifting it then to Wrists Back would unblock Fartouch but restrict ShowInv and activate the HUD Block. You get the idea?

It's pretty neat :)

So anyway, about the only thing left to do on the cuffs is create the HUD and do a lot of testing. I don't have any predictions of when they will be ready for market but it's getting close.

Technical Difficulties

Don't you just love hearing that. "We're sorry we are experiencing technical difficulties at this present moment and cannot provide our service"

Well, tada... hi my video card died so no SecondLife, no anything really until I can replace it which should hopefully only be a day or so... hopefully.

*hugs* to all my friends I hope you come read this so that you at least know why I'm not haven't been logging in.

** UPDATE **

Things were a bit hectic but we've at least partially resolved the issue. From just video messing up the audio went too and with it the fear that it was the motherboard that was screwed. Thankfully we got our heads on straight and decided to try swapping back to the old RAM (these issues occurred when we tried to double our RAM) and; while tragically 1 gig of RAM isn't working/being detected, things are at least in working order.

Time to head to the store and bitch about the faulty RAM they sold us!

So, I am back in action I do have the ability to log into SL but it may be really slow going with only 1 gig of RAM *eek*

** UPDATE **

Soooo, new RAM from the store, same issue when we plug in it. Now during all this it's been my brother who's put the RAM in. As he did with this new RAM that screwed up just the same today. After he left I took a peek and noticed he was putting this new RAM into two different slots.

The motherboard we have has 4 slots for RAM, two are yellow two are black, the old RAM was being put in the yellow, the new ones were in the black. So I took the RAM outa the black and put em in the yellow and voila they work with only one issue: one of the yellow slots is fried (hence why I only had 1gig of RAM before).

This of course concludes that it is in fact the motherboard and not the RAM and, had my brother been consistent with the slots he was putting it in, we would have known this before we exchange the RAM.

Anyway. For the time being things are alright, I'm back up to 2gigs of RAM (which is what I had before all this kerfuffle) which I can live with until such time as we can get a new motherboard and get all 4 gigs.

The Master Swo...er Key

Just as a heads up to prospective customers when relating to my newer products (Simplicity Cuffs and Muzzle Gag currently) that use the Hybrid Key/Owner system they do not have Safewords like my Owner system items do (Chastity Belt, Slave Harness). Instead they use a Master Key which borrows its concept from Marine Kelley's Real Key with a few differences.

1) The key is NO COPY

2) It is found in the box with the product, it is not given or generated by the product

3) You only get ONE, don't lose it and if you give it away be sure to trust that person (in the case of losing it you can get a replacement but try not to alright)

4) You don't create your own password to remember, wearing both product and key you Set Key (option in key menu) to generate a random code unique to the product

5) Once Set you can Use or Reset, Use will unlock your product and return the keys to whomever used the Master Key

6) Reset will clear it's special code and communication with the product will fail, resetting the product will cause this failure also. Be sure to Set your key again in such cases

7) The key can only be Set while the product is Unlocked

Take One Down...

Anyone who knows me knows that I'm, well, hyperactive. This not to say that I'm jumping off the walls or gnawing through my leash but that my mind never sleeps (it causes insomnia which is why I'm writing this at 5:45 AM).

With the Earmuffs out of the way my project list has dropped down to:

Simplicity Cuffs (late beta, still struggling with the AU-HUD that would complete them though I may just release them without it and update later)

Muzzle Gag (some tedious repetitive stuff to be done here, the main thing that was holding it up was Recolour V3.00 which I finished in the cuffs)

Chastity Belt (thanks to LL corrupting my main version I've resorted to one of the many backups I kept, this has delayed me.. and right when I started taking interest in working on it again. Figures)

So anyway, with my list down to 3 my mind decided "Hey that's not enough work lets conceptualize something more" and so it went to work while I sat and did things you don't need details on and lo and behold it came up with something I've been wanting to do for a while.

People who know me will also know that I am a part time ponygirl, hence the tail built into my cb, and while I find bridals out there with this feature I like or this feature none of them seem to have both.

Of the best (I've seen) out there it's a toss between MD and MP, both have great function and features. But both also have large downfalls.

MP - Their great features are lost because they took after Amethyst and made it so that the wearer couldn't lock or control things. Now I know it's always more fun to be locked by someone else (in my case my Master) but sometimes self bondage on a timer is nice too... which brings us to..

MD - Self bondage friendly you can use all the options here however they decided on an odd route for their HUD (used with Blinders, Blindfold or enforced Mouselook) and decided to make it cover your whole screen and then use textures with transparance. So, being a pony, with my blinders on I can see the screen but I can't touch it cause there's technically a prim there with an invisible texture. Aggrevating to say the least.

So, the concept has arisen once more and I figure once I've gotten one or two more things marked off my list I'll lay down some prims for a new fangled bridal.

Of course I also had an epiphiny and also devised a way to generate a HUD in a more user friendly manner (really good if my AU-HUD fails in the end; this data storage issue is a crippler, but it will only make it better if the AU does work).

New Product - Earmuffs

The earmuffs extracted from the Slave Harness have undergone their testing and have passed. They are now available in all shops for 250L$.

The box includes visible prims (the earmuffs from the harness) and invisible (single small prim you can hide in your person) versions depending on which you prefer.

AU-HUD

With the further development of my Simplicity Cuffs on their road to the market the request came to me to work with a HUD. Now of course we all know the functions of a HUD tied to a set of cuffs, Marine Kelley taught us all to well what a devious mind can create and revoke from us subbies.

Having made a HUD in the past (Blindfold_Hud used with my Slave Harness) I knew the task and knew how to make it "persistent" (the term I use to describe a HUD that is always worn) but at the same time I knew that HUD slots are tight and generally filled. Wearing a blindfold and pair of cuffs and you say goodbye to two of your eight slots.

Now to some this isn't such a tragic thing, I myself only have three HUD items on at most times but it calls for a solution.

So awhile ago I started working on the AU-HUD, a universal HUD that would work off a set API to respond to and communicate with any restraint desired and function for cuffs and blindfolds to block the screen or block sight.

Work on it has progressed but I am left with an issue of data storage. Now this HUD, at least how I have it, will only listen to your attachments so the number of sources is finite in that regard but it would seem more efficient to create it dynamically instead of create lists for the numerous slots.

The data so far that I'm faced with storing is:

AttachmentName | Alpha | Texture | Colour | RLV,RLV,RLV

Now currently I can store those all within a single long string and insert that into a list but that seems like a lot of data to extract and alter each time I'm searching or doing anything.

Anyway the plan for this HUD is for the code to be lGPL along with an API released for content makers to interact with the HUD.

At the moment the code is not up yet but I will link to it when it is so that you can see, edit, and perhaps help build the code to a finished and operational state where it can do it's job decluttering our HUD slots.

My Apologies

With this new adult segregation crap going on it's become hard to get my alt (no PIOF, it's an alt..) to places to test my stuff and I haven't had much luck with 3rd party testers.

This means things like my Simplicity Cuffs and Earmuffs (small project that basically extracts the earmuff function from my Slave Harness as a separate product) haven't gone through enough testing yet for me to feel they are ready for release. I know I've talked with a few in game about how soon they'll be out but we'll have to see now, I wasn't expecting to have to be unlocked from everything and run to a mature sim that hasn't fallen to the adult "sweep under the rug" campaign yet just to test a few lines of code.

If I really wanted to I could pay the 25 $USD (equal to about 28$ CND for me) to get PIOF on my alt but I don't really want to.

Wasn't me I swear...

Chatting with my friend Walter Balazic today about an idea he had (they say I have a devious mind..) and with his permission and of course in exchange for me writing it for him; he's allowed me to use it.

So, introducing: Redirect2IM.

Now don't go and pee yourself giggling in glee this is a hack of workarounds because neither LSL or RLV will support tampering with IMs in such a manner so we're not dealing with real IMs we're dealing with fake ones.

Fake IMs being descbied as an item taking your name and IMing for you. (Because of this the text will come as green and not as a tab in your IM window and I feel this is acceptable and in no way invading the privacy of IMs) What will this allow? This will allow my gag to block IMs to everyone (if chosen) and only let you IM things like your owner through this Redirect2IM function after it's garbled it like normal chat. Speak normally (thanks to RLV 1.16 RedircChat) for local garble chatter like any other gag, but speak on 1 or any other channel for it to wisk away over the grid via IM for a Garbled IM.

Merging with my Slave Harness' idea of Temporary Exceptions you will be able to Scan the area and get a list of people around you, pick one, and Garble IM them at your liesure. Combined with the original Temp Exceptions will get you clear IMs to them.

People not in the area but on your friendlist and are now blocked? Add them to a Trusted List and feel free to pick them as target for your IM.

Thinking on it now this could be done via picking their name from a dialog list or by writing it as a prefix to your IM. eg /1 Lylani Bellic - Message

Credit for the idea of course goes to Walter Balazic but lets see how well this idea pans out: many things that sound good in theory or concept don't work out well in practice.

Feel free to leave a comment on your thoughts of this experimental idea.

As you may have guessed...

... the Muzzle Gag is a bit delayed.

With the new concept of my hybrid key/owner system and my Recolour V3.00 finally finished and working I'm needing to do some rewriting and restructuring of the gags scripts. The new access system will also change how it is sold.

Previously, as seen in the first post about the gag, I had intended to make both key and owner system and then a deluxe version able to swap between both. But now having the advantages of both in one it's being cut down to just one type being sold.

Rest assured work progresses, getting it to beta will just take a little bit longer.

Simplicity Cuffs Beta V.1.00

Voila, I present with some glee and quite some pride my latest achievement; the Simplicity Cuffs, the cuffs that will allow you the ever diverse, unique and generally wonderful consumer dictate what pose your sub (or yourself) has to suffer through today.

Don't like a pose? Why not take it out, the item doesn't break from such alterations: it was designed for it. Add and remove whatever pose you like (or dislike) and lock them up...

Adding a pose is easy: simply buy a pose from the shop (not in stores yet this is beta still people) and it will give you a little swirling ball. Wear your cuffs, rez the ball; click it. Done. Your cuffs now have a new pose; even if they are currently locked!

I'm alive

Really I am. See *pinch* awake and alive :)

Work is, well work. I've discovered the secret to beating those evil Priority 4 AOs that some retard band produces in secrecy (as they should, I'd give those buggers a good slap if I found em)

Pet peeve of mine really. People, if you're making an AO that isn't something like a corset (KaS) or cuffs (RR, Marine Kelley) please use Priority 3 at most. I know you think you're all so special and your precious AO has to be seen over everything else so you want P4, please don't. It fucks with all of us who make things like cuffs or corsets who's very concept requires that they pose over top and despite other poses. Your AO will still look good as P3, and it won't make me lose my hair while I have to overly complicate my code just to make my P4 cuff poses win out over yours.

Now then, as you may have guessed: I'm making cuffs.

There current name at the moment is Simplicity named such because they are simple to use. Now, do not mistake simple for cheap or innefective. Simple just means that they aren't loaded with all those features you may see in other cuffs. Features that frankly are not part of what makes cuffs cuffs.

Cuffs are simple, they lock; many times in multiple positions. Mine do that.

A quick feature list run down I guess may be in order:

Modular Design - You won't have to buy all the cuffs as one set (wrists, elbows and belt; at this time I have no leg cuffs though they are planned the act of making poses for them is a bit more challenging then for arms), you can buy which cuffs you want although the wrist cuffs are kinda mandatory :p

Custom Pose - In two senses of the word, not only do you get to pick and choose which poses the cuffs can do but I'm working on a plugin that will allow you to make and add your own poses. Without the plugin only poses made by me will work in the cuffs.

Hybrid Key/Owner System - Mostly it's the key system but it acts like a hybrid because the keys do not auto-return when you unlock the cuffs, nor are they automatically taken when you lock. Taking and leaving the keys is an independent act of "ownership".

Top Six - Inspired of course by Marine Kelley the main menu displays (up to) 6 poses (the rest are found in the Poses menu, as these cuffs can hold more then just 6; they hold as many as you put in). The difference is that this menu is fluid, the six poses that you see are not all that you have, they are a list of the most used (thus, logically, the most liked) poses. The menu will rearrange its contents when one pose is used more then the others.

Timer/Autolock - A concept we're all familiar with.

Plugins - A concept I've always liked the plugins will include leash, keylock and possible OnDuty.

Other Notes -

  • Certain poses will require certain cuffs, some need the elbows etc to work, the cuffs are designed to not allow them to work without. The cuffs also wont work if you are only wearing one wrist cuff.
  • Left hand wins. Being a lefty myself it's my nature to make the left wrist cuff the dominant side; it is where you'll find the anims and scripts.
  • NoMod anims. I have to keep it that way for a reason, due to the dynamic nature of the cuffs I don't know who, how many, when (etc) the poses will come around and I needed a way for the cuffs to know which cuffs are needed (just wrists, elbows, belt..) and for them to know where to attach particle chains to and from. So the names of the anims look a bit weird, they have their name and then the codes needed for the cuffs. They're no mod so that people cant rename them and trick the cuffs into thinking this elbow pose only needs wrists etc.
  • Inexpensive. Because of how the cuffs will be sold; each pair by themselves and devoid of poses, they will be fairly cheap. Poses are bought separately. This allows for you to buy as many or as a few poses as you want or can afford as well as choose what style of poses you want.
That's all I can think of right now. I'll post an update when the Simplicity Cuffs are ready (currently in early beta, still a few things to write and perfect).

A face fresh in my mind, a smile on her lips and the grace of angels in her song;
An ambush of warmth and welcome into her kitchen where merriment resided,
To be wrapped in those arms again with the light in your eyes guiding the sun through the sky,
To spend another day around your table our hearts full of mirth.

Happy Birthday my dear aunt, I hope God baked you a really big cake. Although knowing you you insisted on making it yourself and taught him a thing or two.

..and on

Work continues on the Muzzle Gag, going well so far. Pretty soon to hit beta where I can start throwing it at my testers and see how many seconds it takes before the thing breaks.

The plan so far, I'm programing it to be both Owner system (like my Slave Harness) and Key System (like Marine Kelly's RR line). The shop will contain each version in both Mod/Copy/NoTransfer and Mod/NoCopy/Transfer versions along with a Delux version that combines both systems allowing the (product) owner to toggle which system is used (only when unlocked and unowned if owner to key or with keys if key to owner).

So that means 6 entries into the shop; it's a few options I know but I want to give people the chance for the Delux version instead of buying both Key and Owner systems as some do like to play with both depending on many factors.

Feature Sneak Peaks:
Advanced @Home - same concept as in my Slave Harness but with more customization including things like the distance from Home you travel before it activates and the size of Home after it activates. Whos to say it can't be 2 meters away to activate and 1 to return ;)

Recolour v2 - pretty much a total rewrite of my colouring script, keeping with the theme of presets and save slots that my Slave Harness has but more advanced and efficiant (not that you'd notice that part but it saves script memory) giving only 9 preset colours isntead of 12 but allowing for 9 save slots previously only 6. More intuative control over the menus allows you to rename the buttons so that you don't have to remember that "This redish-brown I liked is in Custom_4 and this beige is in Custom_2" as you did with the Harness, now you can rename the menu yourself to whatever you want.

Suffix-you - take control of the menus yet again and alter their content and then choose what you want the suffix to be. The suffix is described as the short (single word only) message used to describe how the person is talking while gagged. Lylani mumbles, Lylani mutters, Lylani moans (guess what the suffix is :p). And you get to not only pick which one you want from a list but you get to add and remove (even preset ones) in that list.

Welcome Back!

Give a big hug and welcome back to my dear friend, mentor and Master; Veritas Gothly who has been away serving his country overseas for the past five months. Americans (and probably Canadians too) should give him some respect; if not for his do gooder attitude (hehe) then for his selfless service he provided, and will continue to provide, to keep us all in our cozy chairs with our computers reading blogs.

I'm (quite) sure he wouldn't mind an IM in world in thanks for his service. I hear he loves to build social networks. *winks*

An Open Letter to Linden Labs [penned by Kira Welty]

A few years ago an idea and a dream of a virtual world where every adult could be free to be who they want and to create what they want was made: Your World, Your Imagination

Not everything was perfect, or stable, but it was Our World, Our Imagination apart from the childish games and epeen of other virtual worlds. It was a place where adults got to play dress up, RP and socialize with others of like minded interests. Somewhere we could try to be the next Calvin Klein, Sony, Mercedes, or any countless other famous or infamous business leaders, companies or artists. It was a virtual world where the adults of the world can dream and play free from the grind and daily hassles of everyday life.

Somewhere along the way Linden Lab, You Forgot This.

You forgot that your customers here on the main grid are Adults.

You seem to have forgotten that almost all of everything here was made by your customers.

You gave us a blank canvas, some paints and a few brushes...all of us together painted the world of Second Life.

The Sneak Peak Continues...

Well I said I'd have more and here's more. A couple sneaks at what my latest product looks like.

And as you know; due to my earlier preview post, I didn't start this design knowing that Dari would quit and leave a void in the market for muzzle gags.

Nosy Buggers to the Last

Congress [possibly] steps into action against Linden Labs and SecondLife, fulfilling the job of a child parent (you know that task that all parents should do, called watching over and taking care of their children) and taking actions against [to destroy?] "adult" content within the world.

Now I don't know about you people, but if I had kids I'd follow the example a friend of mine set. I introduced him and his son to SecondLife and while doing so I made sure they both understood the nature of the content that is available. Because of this he (the father) was the only one who knew the password to the account and his son could only play when supervised.

The instant something went wrong that was it, no more SL for his kid; not till he's 18 (legal age in Manitoba). What went wrong? His son got banned from a sandbox for being curious and walking through peoples builds.

The point is people, that father took responsibility as a parent and made sure that his son was not exposed. He didn't need Linden Labs or the Government to get involved and control his kids for him. As a good parent should be.

If your son or daughter is underage and playing with adult content in SecondLife or any other medium it is not the company or governments job or fault: it's yours. Buck up, act like a parent, take responsibility and then help combat something that is nothing less then opression!

New Product - Early Warning

Working on a draft of a new product, worked up the concept today and starting to lay down a few basic prims to see how it should look. If all goes well and I can find a look I like the scripting of it shouldn't take that long seeing as many of it's functions I've done before though I will always try to improve upon them and make them more intuitive and efficient. Some I haven't done before so the experimenting and torturing of my beta testers with products that bug out ensues.

Am I going to divulge more specific information? Not at this time, but check back for an update I may just post a sneak peak of the looks.

Alo Alo

Welcome to my crazy world of scripting and.. well, general mayhem. Frankly I don't know how active I can be on a blog like this but I can try to at least list new products that I'm working on or that I have a release date for.

I guess to start off lets give a bit about who I am and what I do beyond what little I wrote in my profile.

I'm a scripter and builder, working alone thus far, to make my unique products. Not that cages and toys are all that unique but if you've seen some of my work already you know that I'm pretty good at adding little twits to things that makes them far from ordinary and far from nice in some cases.

Why make products so restrictive? Well beyond the obvious that there's a market for them it's also based upon a personal fantasy many of us within the BDSM community have. Lets face it, we (most of us at least) know what's real and what is realistic, and we know what's not. SecondLife is a great place to mess around with those thoughts in our heads of things we know just aren't fesiable or safe to do in RL.

"But it's just a game, it doesn't compare to rl.." well that's true to some extent, it's not really a game, there's no goal to it. Beyond semantical nonsense it's more then just a virutal world too, todays society connects with the internet from an early age; we can relate to it, through it and because of it to other people we may never get to meet otherwise.

Does it replace a good life? Far from it, but it can pass the time or allow you to play with people whom you've met online and wouldn't ever have the chance of doing in rl.

Anyway, I digress (as I oft do), I like to make my products with as many options as I can think of; my friends joke about how long I take doing stuff then but I prefer that the end user has the option to do nearly anything they think of. Why limit something to presets I desire for myself when someone else may want something in between? It's just as easy for me to write it freeform the first time. Let the user decide how much or how little of my products options they want to use. In some cases the options may draw in a whole new crowd of customers, mixing a more common fetish of chastity belts with a lesser one of ponyplay (which I do enjoy from time to time) means I can sell to people in and out of the ponyplay fetishism. Those outside of it will never have to touch those options, and those in it are now my new customers because I targeted them as well.

Of course speaking of my Chastity Belt it is a product I've been working on since early December of last year and it is, thankfully and finally, comeing pretty darn close to being done. Sadly there is a lot of bug hunting still to do and I'm stuck in a few places of how to do the remaining desired features in as low lag of a way as possible. I've also side tracked (I probably have ADHD) to start and finish other products in the mean time.

So I'll stop rambling now, I'll probably post again when I have my latest cage finished and up for sale which should be sometime this week if all goes well.

Farewell for now.
